Spiced Apple Cider Reduction Syrup

    Wrap the cloves, star anise, and cinnamon stick in cheesecloth to create a spice bag. Place it in a large saucepan and pour in the apple cider.

    Bring to a boil over high heat.

    Lower the heat to medium and simmer, uncovered, for about 30 minutes.

    Remove and discard the spice bag.

    Continue simmering until reduced to 3/4 cup, about 1 hour.

    Let it cool completely.

    Refrigerate, covered, until ready to serve (or for up to 3 weeks).
