Bubba’s Cheddar-Dill Beer Bread

Side Dish 🥗Snack 🍿 Southern Recipes 🇺🇸American

Bubba’s Cheddar-Dill Beer Bread bakes up with a tender, moist crumb, gentle onion and dill aroma, and little pockets of melted Cheddar throughout. The malty beer adds a subtle sweetness and rustic edge that pairs well with hearty Southern plates. Serve warm with collard greens, soups, or a New Year’s spread of black-eyed peas and greens.

Bubba’s Cheddar-Dill Beer Bread
  1. 1

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9- or 10-inch cast iron skillet.

  2. 2

In a large bowl, mix together the self-rising flour, sugar, onion powder, dill weed, and salt. Pour in the beer and stir until all the dry ingredients are incorporated. Stir as gently as possible to avoid deflating the beer. Fold in the cheese cubes.

  3. 3

Bake for 45 to 60 minutes, or until the top springs back when lightly pressed. The bread should rise well above the edge of the pan.
