Breakfast 🍳Dessert 🍰Snack 🍿 American

These Buttermilk Oat Waffles balance a crisp, bronzed exterior with a tender, fluffy crumb thanks to whipped egg whites and buttermilk. Buttermilk Oat Waffles
  1. 1

Preheat a waffle iron following the manufacturer's instructions.

  2. 2

Combine flour, oats, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl; set aside.

  3. 3

Beat egg yolks together in a bowl; add buttermilk, milk, and butter, and beat until well combined.

  4. 4

Beat the buttermilk mixture into the flour mixture until well combined.

  5. 5

Beat egg whites and vanilla extract together in a bowl until soft peaks form; fold 1/2 into the buttermilk batter until combined.

  6. 6

Fold the remaining 1/2 of the egg whites into the batter until combined.

  7. 7

Ladle batter onto the preheated waffle iron; cook until the waffles are golden and crisp and the iron stops steaming, about 5 minutes.

  8. 8

Transfer waffles to a paper towel-lined plate to prevent sogginess.

  9. 9

    Repeat with the remaining batter.
