Put the potatoes in a large saucepan and add enough water to cover them. Bring to a boil and cook until tender, about 10 minutes. Drain.

While the potatoes cook, crumble the ground beef into a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook for a few minutes, then add the onion and stir. Continue cooking until the meat is no longer pink and the onion is tender. Drain off excess grease, then gently stir in the potatoes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Put the tomatillos, garlic, jalapeno, and cilantro in a blender. Squeeze the avocados from their skins into the blender. Blend until smooth.
