Breakfast 🍳Dessert 🍰Snack 🍿 British

Buttery, tender scones dotted with miniature chocolate chips and lifted with a hint of orange juice for a bright finish. Chocolate Chip Scones are lightly sweet with crisp edges and a soft crumb, ideal for a cozy breakfast, brunch, or an afternoon tea treat.

Chocolate Chip Scones
  1. 1

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Coat a baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray.

  2. 2

Whisk the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl. Cut in the butter with a pastry blender or a large fork until the mixture looks like coarse crumbs. Stir in the chocolate chips. Add the orange juice and mix to make a dough.

  3. 3

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface. Pat or roll it into a 9-inch circle about 1/2 inch thick. Using a 2 1/2-inch fluted biscuit cutter, cut out 12 scones, pressing the dough scraps together for the last few if needed. Place the scones on the baking sheet.

  4. 4

Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, about 12 minutes. Transfer to wire racks to cool.
