    Season the halibut fillets with salt and pepper.

    Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat; add the onion.

    Cook and stir until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.

    Add the wine; simmer until slightly reduced but still juicy, about 5 minutes.

    Pour the mixture into the bottom of a baking pan. Place the seasoned halibut on top.
