    Bring 3/4 cup water, sugar, and cinnamon to a boil in a saucepan; lower the heat and simmer until the sugar dissolves, 3 to 4 minutes.

    Reduce the heat and simmer until the cherries soften, about 5 minutes.

    Mix 2 tablespoons water with the cornstarch in a small bowl; pour it over the cherry mixture in the saucepan.
