Gather all the ingredients.

In a large bowl, beat the brown sugar, honey, and egg with an electric mixer until smooth; then stir in the molasses.

In a separate bowl, combine the flour, nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves, allspice, and baking soda; stir this into the molasses mixture to make a sticky dough. Stir in the almonds and candied fruit peel. Cover the dough and chill it overnight.

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Grease or line the cookie sheets. Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface to 1/4 inch thick.

Cut the dough into 2x3-inch rectangles. Place the cookies 1 1/2 inches apart on the prepared cookie sheets.
