Halibut in Rice Wine Sauce

    Heat oil in a nonstick saucepan over medium heat. Add the shallots and the garlic; cook gently until fragrant but not browned. Stir in the mirin, black bean sauce, and soy sauce. Bring to a boil; cook until reduced by half. Remove from the heat; stir in the vinegar and set aside.

    Preheat an outdoor grill to high heat and lightly oil the grate.
