    Preheat an outdoor grill to medium heat and lightly oil the grate.

    Set the salmon on a large sheet of aluminum foil. Arrange the onion rings on top of the filet. Season with pepper to taste. Fold the foil up around the salmon, leaving the top unsealed.

    Set the salmon (still in the foil) on the preheated grill and cover. Cook for 15 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork.
