    Assemble the ingredients.

    Place the green beans, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper in a stainless steel pot over medium-high heat. Cook covered until the beans start to sweat, then remove the lid and stir occasionally until the beans are tender.

    When the beans and spices start to char on the bottom of the pan, stir in the olive oil and turn off the heat. Cover and let it sit for a few minutes.

    Scrape the bottom of the pan to mix in the charred spices. The beans should be a dark, caramel color, not black.
