    Assemble all the ingredients.

    Combine salt, pepper, paprika, chili powder, onion powder, garlic powder, thyme, marjoram, and basil in a small bowl.

    Put the steak in a large bowl; sprinkle the seasoning mixture over it and stir to coat.

    Heat 1/2 of the oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the steak; cook and stir to your desired doneness. Move the cooked steak to a plate.

    Heat the remaining oil in the skillet. Add the onion and green pepper; cook and stir until tender and caramelized.

    Set the oven to the broiler setting. Divide the cooked beef among the bottoms of 4 rolls.

    Add the onion and green pepper on top.

    Place sliced cheese on top. Set the sandwiches on a cookie sheet.

    Broil in the preheated oven until the cheese is melted.

    Cover with the tops of the rolls and serve.
