Raspberry Syrup for Drinks

    In a small saucepan, bring the water and sugar to a boil, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves, 5 to 10 minutes.

    Remove from the heat, stir in the raspberries, and mash them with a potato masher or a fork.

    Let the mixture steep for at least 1 hour.

    Pour the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer, pressing the raspberry pulp with a spatula to extract as much liquid as possible.

    Discard the solids and store the syrup in a sealed container in the refrigerator.
