    Set the pork roast in the slow cooker, rub it with salt, and pour the root beer, liquid smoke, and garlic over the top.

    Cook on Low for 8 to 10 hours.

    Remove the pork to a bowl.

    Strain the liquid through a fine-mesh strainer; discard it or save for another use (see Editor's Notes).

    Add the garlic cloves back to the pork.

    Shred the pork using two forks.
