Chilled Strawberry Layer Cake
  1. 1

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking dish.

  2. 2

Make cake: Prepare the cake mix as the package directs, using 1 1/3 cups water, 3 eggs, and 1/3 cup oil. Pour the batter into the prepared dish.

  3. 3

Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, about 30 minutes. Let the cake cool on a wire rack.

  4. 4

Poke holes over the top of the cooled cake with a fork. Purée the thawed strawberries with their juice in a blender or food processor until smooth. Spoon the mixture over the top of the cake.

  5. 5

Make topping: Prepare the pudding mix as the package directs, using 1 cup milk. Fold the whipped topping into the pudding until combined, then spread over the cake. Arrange the strawberries on top.

  6. 6

Refrigerate the cake for at least 4 hours before serving.
