Ingredients

  • 2 Cups cranberries
  • 2 Whole tomatoes, peeled
  • 0.33 Cups golden raisins
  • 0.25 Cups yellow onion, minced
  • 1 Teaspoon (tsp) salt
  • 1 Cup brown sugar, packed
  • 0.5 Cups cider vinegar
  • 0.5 Teaspoons (tsp) ginger, ground
  • 0.5 Teaspoons (tsp) cloves, ground
  • 0.5 Teaspoons (tsp) black pepper, ground
  • 0.75 Cups water

Steps

  1. In a 3-quart saucepan, combine cranberries, tomatoes, water, raisins, onion, and salt. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  2. Reduce the heat to a simmer. Cover and cook for 15 minutes or until the cranberries pop.
  3. Stir in the brown sugar, cider vinegar, ground ginger, ground cloves, and ground black pepper.
  4. Cover the saucepan again and cook for an additional 35 to 40 minutes, or until the mixture reaches a relish-like consistency, stirring occasionally.
  5. Once cooked, ladle the chutney into jars or freezer containers. Refrigerate or freeze until ready to use. Enjoy your spiced cranberry and tomato chutney delight!
