Ingredients

  • 1 12 Pounds (lb) whole turkey
  • 0.5 Cups butter, cubed
  • 2 Whole apples, cored
  • 1 Tablespoon (tbsp) garlic powder
  • 1 Pinch salt, to taste
  • 1 Pinch pepper, to taste
  • 500 Milliliters (ml) Champagne

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Rinse the turkey thoroughly and pat it dry with paper towels.
  3. Gently loosen the skin over the turkey breast and insert the cubed butter between the skin and the breast meat.
  4. Place the cored apples inside the turkey's cavity.
  5. Sprinkle the turkey with garlic powder, salt, and pepper to taste.
  6. Place the turkey in a roasting bag and pour the Champagne over the inside and outside of the bird.
  7. Seal the roasting bag and place the turkey in a roasting pan.
  8. Bake the turkey in the preheated oven for 3 to 3 1/2 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 180 degrees F (85 degrees C) in the thickest part of the thigh.
  9. Remove the turkey from the roasting bag and let it stand for at least 20 minutes before carving.
