  • 0.5 Cups (cup) milk
  • 1 Large egg, whisked
  • 0.5 Cups (cup) all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 Cups (cup) cornmeal
  • 1 Pinch garlic salt, seasoned
  • 1 Pinch black pepper, ground
  • 1 Pinch salt, to taste
  • 1 Cup (cup) oil, for frying
  • 6 Pounds (lb) yellow squash, sliced

Steps

  1. Gather all ingredients.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the milk and whisked egg. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, garlic salt, black pepper, and salt.
  3. Heat the oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat until it reaches 350 to 375 degrees F (180 to 190 degrees C).
  4. Dip each slice of squash into the egg mixture, then dredge in the flour mixture to coat thoroughly.
  5. Fry the coated squash slices in the hot oil, a few at a time, until they are crisp and golden brown on both sides.
  6. Drain the fried squash on a paper towel and serve immediately for the best taste and texture.
