Ingredients
- 1 Tablespoon (tbsp) garlic powder
- 1 Tablespoon (tbsp) onion powder
- 1 Tablespoon (tbsp) meat tenderizer
- 1 Tablespoon (tbsp) seasoning salt
- 2 Pounds (lb) rib-eye steaks
- 1 Whole onion, sliced
- 12 Ounces (oz) beer
- 1.25 Cups fresh lime juice
Steps
- In a small bowl, combine garlic powder, onion powder, meat tenderizer, and seasoning salt. Rub this mixture evenly onto both sides of the rib-eye steaks.
- Arrange a layer of sliced onions at the bottom of a 9x13-inch pan. Lay the steaks over the onions. Top with more onions, then pour 1/4 of the beer and 1/4 cup of lime juice over the top. Repeat the layering process until all steaks are covered. Pour any remaining beer and lime juice over the top. Cover the pan and marinate in the refrigerator for 30 to 40 minutes. Do not marinate for more than 1 hour to prevent the lime juice from cooking the meat.
- Preheat an outdoor grill to medium-high heat and lightly oil the grate. Remove the steaks from the marinade and discard the remaining marinade.
- Grill the steaks to your desired level of doneness, approximately 2 minutes per side for well-done. Allow the steaks to rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
- Serve the grilled steaks with warm tortillas and enjoy the Cuban flavors.
