Ingredients

  • 1 12 Pounds (lb) whole turkey
  • 1 Tablespoon (tbsp) vegetable oil
  • 1 Teaspoon (tsp) Italian seasoning
  • 1 Pinch salt, to taste
  • 1 Pinch ground black pepper, to taste

Steps

  1. Prepare an outdoor grill for indirect medium-high heat.
  2. Remove and discard the giblets from the turkey. Rinse the turkey and pat it dry. Turn the wings back to hold the neck skin in place and return the legs to a tucked position.
  3. Brush the turkey with vegetable oil. Season the inside and outside with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Place the turkey, breast-side up, on a metal grate inside a large roasting pan.
  4. Place the roasting pan over indirect heat on the preheated grill. Grill until the internal thigh temperature reaches 180 degrees F (85 degrees C), approximately 2 to 3 hours.
  5. Remove the turkey from the grill and let it stand for 15 minutes before carving.
