- 2 Tablespoons ghee, melted
- 1 Whole red onion, diced
- 0.5 Teaspoon cumin seed
- 1 Inch piece cinnamon stick
- 7 Whole peppercorns
- 1 Tablespoon ginger garlic paste
- 1 Whole tomato, diced
- 0.5 Cup water
- 0.5 Cup peas
- 0.5 Cup carrot, diced
- 0.5 Cup potato, diced
- 1 Cube chicken bouillon
- 1 Teaspoon salt
- 0.25 Teaspoon red chile pepper, ground
- 0.25 Teaspoon black pepper, ground
- 0.5 Teaspoon garam masala
- 0.25 Teaspoon turmeric, ground
- 4 Cups water
- 2 Cups basmati rice, rinsed and drained
Steps
- Heat the ghee in a large pot over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent.
- Stir in the cumin seeds, cinnamon stick, and peppercorns, cooking until fragrant.
- Add the ginger garlic paste and diced tomato, cooking until the tomato softens.
- Pour in 0.5 cup of water, then add peas, carrots, and potatoes. Stir in the chicken bouillon cube, salt, red chile pepper, black pepper, garam masala, and turmeric.
- Add 4 cups of water and bring to a boil. Stir in the basmati rice, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed, about 15-20 minutes.
- Fluff the rice with a fork and serve hot.
