Ingredients

  • 2 Pounds Hawaiian sweet bread loaves, cubed
  • 1 Teaspoon sage
  • 3 Teaspoons poultry seasoning
  • 1 Pinch salt, to taste
  • 1 Pinch pepper, to taste
  • 2 Tablespoons butter, melted
  • 3 Stalks celery, diced
  • 0.5 Medium onion, minced
  • 1 Cup water
  • 1.5 Cups dried cranberries
  • 0.5 Cup sunflower seeds

Steps

  1. Cube the day-old sweet bread into small pieces and place them in a large bowl. Add the sage, poultry seasoning, salt, and pepper. Toss and allow the bread to sit until dry.
  2. In a large skillet, melt the butter and add the diced celery, minced onion, and water. Stir until heated but not boiling.
  3. Combine the cranberries, sunflower seeds, and vegetable mixture with the bowl of dried bread; stir well.
  4. Use as a stuffing for turkey, or bake in a buttered casserole dish at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 30 to 40 minutes.
