Ingredients

  • 0.67 Cups mirin
  • 1 Cup soy sauce
  • 4.5 Teaspoons (tsp) rice vinegar
  • 1 Teaspoon (tsp) sesame oil
  • 0.33 Cup white sugar
  • 7 Cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 Tablespoon (tbsp) fresh ginger, minced
  • 1 Pinch red pepper flakes
  • 1 Pinch black pepper, to taste

Steps

  1. Bring the mirin to a boil in a saucepan over high heat.
  2. Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for 10 minutes.
  3. Pour in the soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and sugar.
  4. Season with minced garlic, fresh ginger, red pepper flakes, and black pepper.
  5. Simmer the mixture for an additional 5 minutes.
  6. Store the sauce in a tightly sealed container in the refrigerator.
