Ingredients

  • 8 Each snow peas
  • 1 Tablespoon (tbsp) vegetable oil
  • 0.25 Pounds (lb) sirloin steak, sliced
  • 4 Whole potatoes, divided
  • 2 Cups dashi soup
  • 0.25 Cups soy sauce
  • 0.25 Cups sake
  • 1 Tablespoon (tbsp) white sugar
  • 1 Whole onion, minced

Steps

  1. Place the snow peas in a small saucepan with enough water to cover them. Bring to a boil, then immediately remove from heat. Drain and set aside.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the sirloin steak slices in the oil until browned.
  3. Add the potatoes to the skillet and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are soft, about 5 to 7 minutes.
  4. Stir in the dashi soup, soy sauce, sake, and white sugar. Allow the mixture to simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Reduce the heat to low and scatter the minced onion over the mixture. Let it simmer until the liquid is nearly completely evaporated, about 15 minutes more.
  6. Top the dish with the snow peas before serving. Enjoy your savory soy-glazed sirloin with simmered potatoes!
