Ingredients

  • 5 Pounds (lb) Yukon Gold potatoes, cubed
  • 8 Ounces (oz) sour cream
  • 6 Ounces (oz) cream cheese, packaged
  • 0.5 Cups (cup) milk
  • 2 Teaspoons (tsp) onion salt
  • 1 Pinch ground black pepper, to taste

Steps

  1. Gather all ingredients.
  2. Place the cubed potatoes in a large pot of lightly salted water. Bring to a boil and cook until tender, about 15 minutes. Drain the potatoes.
  3. Transfer the drained potatoes into a large bowl and mash them until smooth.
  4. Stir in the sour cream, cream cheese, milk, onion salt, and ground black pepper until well combined.
  5. Transfer the mashed potato mixture into a large casserole dish. Let the potatoes cool completely for 15 to 20 minutes. Cover with aluminum foil and refrigerate for up to 2 days.
  6. When ready to bake, remove the casserole from the refrigerator and let it sit for 30 minutes on the counter. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
  7. Bake the covered casserole in the preheated oven for 50 minutes. Serve warm.
