Ingredients

  • 0.33 Cups white sugar
  • 1.5 Teaspoons (tsp) chipotle chile powder
  • 0.25 Teaspoons (tsp) chili powder
  • 0.25 Teaspoons (tsp) garlic powder
  • 2 Tablespoons (tbsp) butter, melted
  • 2 Tablespoons (tbsp) honey
  • 1 Teaspoon (tsp) kosher salt
  • 1 Pound (lb) skinless peanuts

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). In a small bowl, mix together the sugar, chipotle chile powder, chili powder, and garlic powder. Set aside.
  2. In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine the butter, honey, and kosher salt. Stir until the butter has melted and the mixture becomes bubbly.
  3. Add the peanuts to the saucepan, stirring until they are well coated with the butter mixture.
  4. Transfer the coated peanuts to a 9x13 inch baking dish, spreading them out evenly.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes, stirring the peanuts 2 or 3 times to ensure even cooking.
  6. Once the peanuts are golden brown, remove them from the oven and transfer them to a large metal bowl.
  7. Sprinkle the spice mixture over the peanuts and toss them to ensure an even coating.
  8. Allow the peanuts to cool to room temperature, tossing them every few minutes to prevent sticking. Enjoy your spicy, sweet, and smoky snack!
