  • 1 Pound (lb) pork, ground
  • 1 Teaspoon (tsp) ginger, ground
  • 1 Teaspoon (tsp) garlic powder
  • 2 Cups cabbage, shredded
  • 2 Ounces (oz) carrots, shredded
  • 2 Tablespoons (tbsp) flour, all-purpose
  • 2 Tablespoons (tbsp) water
  • 1 Quart (qt) peanut oil
  • 8 7 inch square egg roll wrappers
  • 2 Tablespoons (tbsp) sesame seeds (Optional)

Steps

  1. Prepare Ingredients: Gather all ingredients and have them ready for use.
  2. Cook Pork: In a large bowl, season the ground pork with ginger and garlic powder. Cook in a medium skillet over medium heat until browned and crumbly, about 5 to 7 minutes.
  3. Mix Filling: Combine the cooked pork, shredded cabbage, and carrots in a large bowl. Mix until well combined. In a small bowl, mix flour and water to form a paste.
  4. Heat Oil: Heat peanut oil in a large skillet to about 375°F (190°C).
  5. Assemble Egg Rolls: Lay an egg roll wrapper on a work surface with a corner pointed toward you. Place 1/4 to 1/3 cup of filling in the center. Fold the bottom corner over the filling, then fold in the sides, and roll tightly. Seal the top corner with the flour paste.
  6. Fry Egg Rolls: Fry the egg rolls in hot oil, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crispy, about 5 to 8 minutes.
  7. Drain and Serve: Remove from oil and drain on paper towels or a rack. Sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired. Serve warm with your choice of dipping sauce.
