Ingredients
- 4 Pounds (lb) tri-tip roast
- 4 Cloves garlic, peeled
- 0.33 Cups salt
- 0.33 Cups black pepper
- 0.33 Cups garlic salt
Steps
- Using a sharp knife, cut small slits in the top of the tri-tip roast and insert the garlic slices into the slits.
- In a small bowl, mix together the salt, black pepper, and garlic salt. Rub this mixture all over the tri-tip. Refrigerate the seasoned tri-tip for at least 1 hour or up to 1 day. Remove from the refrigerator about 20 minutes before grilling.
- Preheat an outdoor grill to high heat and lightly oil the grate.
- Place the tri-tip directly above the flame to sear the meat and lock in the juices, grilling for about 5 to 10 minutes per side.
- Reduce the grill to medium heat and continue to cook, turning occasionally, for another 25 to 30 minutes. Use an instant-read thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 145 degrees F (63 degrees C) for medium-rare. Let the tri-tip rest, covered loosely with aluminum foil, for 5 minutes before slicing.
