  • 1 Tablespoon (tbsp) olive oil
  • 1 Whole chayote squash, sliced
  • 1 Clove garlic, minced
  • 0.5 Teaspoon (tsp) salt
  • 0.5 Teaspoon (tsp) white sugar
  • 0.25 Teaspoon (tsp) red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 Pinch ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 Tablespoon (tbsp) red wine vinegar

Steps

  1. Heat the olive oil in a medium skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the chayote squash, garlic, salt, sugar, red pepper flakes, and black pepper to the skillet. Cook and stir for 2 to 3 minutes.
  3. Pour in the red wine vinegar and continue to cook and stir until the squash is slightly wilted but still firm and crunchy, about 2 to 3 more minutes.
