Ingredients

  • 2 Whole egg whites
  • 0.25 Teaspoon (tsp) cream of tartar
  • 0.25 Teaspoon (tsp) salt
  • 0.5 Teaspoon (tsp) vanilla extract
  • 0.5 Cup white sugar

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C).
  2. In a large bowl, beat the egg whites, cream of tartar, and salt until soft peaks form.
  3. Add vanilla extract and slowly beat in the sugar until the mixture is very stiff and glossy.
  4. Spread the meringue mixture into a 9-inch pie plate to form a shell.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 50 minutes.
  6. Turn the oven off and leave the meringue in the oven for 1 hour to cool.
  7. Let the meringue crust cool completely before filling with your choice of cream and fruit. Enjoy!
