Serving Size: 4
Cooking Time: 55 minutes
Ingredients
- 3 Whole green bell peppers, roasted
- 1 Tablespoon (tbsp) olive oil
- 1 Tablespoon (tbsp) red onion, minced
- 1 Clove garlic, minced
- 1 Pinch salt, to taste
- 1 Pinch pepper, to taste
- 1 Whole roma (plum) tomato, diced
Steps
- Preheat your oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C). Place the whole green bell peppers on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Roast in the oven until the skins are charred and the peppers are soft, about 30 to 45 minutes. Turn the peppers halfway through to ensure even roasting.
- Once roasted, remove the peppers from the oven and let them cool for about 10 minutes. Peel off the charred skin, remove the stems and seeds, and chop the peppers into half-inch pieces.
- In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced red onion and sauté until it becomes soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the minced garlic, a pinch of salt, and freshly ground black pepper. Add the chopped roasted peppers and diced roma tomato to the skillet.
- Cook the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the tomato softens and the flavors meld together, about 5 minutes.
- Adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper if needed. Serve warm or at room temperature with a fresh baguette on the side for dipping. Enjoy your flavorful Algerian flafla!
