Ingredients

  • 2 Large onions, sliced
  • 14 Fillets Swedish anchovies
  • 6 Medium potatoes, peeled
  • 1.5 Cups heavy cream
  • 2 Tablespoons (tbsp) dry bread crumbs
  • 1 Tablespoon (tbsp) unsalted butter, melted

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Butter a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. Spread the onions onto the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Layer the anchovies on top, followed by the potato strips. Pour the heavy cream over the layers.
  3. In a small bowl, combine the bread crumbs and melted butter. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the potatoes.
  4. Place the baking dish onto a baking sheet to catch any overflow.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes, or until the potatoes are softened, the cream has reduced, and the top is a deep golden brown.
  6. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy the savory and creamy delight!
