- 6 Whole egg yolks, whisked
- 0.5 Pints (pt) sour cream
- 3 Tablespoons (tbsp) white sugar
- 1 Tablespoon (tbsp) vanilla extract
- 1 Tablespoon (tbsp) whiskey
- 3 Cups all-purpose flour
- 1 Cup vegetable oil for frying
- 0.33 Cups confectioners' sugar, sifted
Steps
- Heat the vegetable oil in a deep-fryer to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
- In a large bowl, beat together the egg yolks, sour cream, white sugar, vanilla extract, and whiskey until smooth.
- Stir in the all-purpose flour until the dough is stiff enough to knead.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead until smooth. Add additional flour if necessary.
- Divide the dough into 3 or 4 pieces. Roll each piece on a floured surface.
- Cut the rolled dough into strips about 3 inches long. Make a slit lengthwise down the middle of each strip and pull one end through the slit to form a bow shape.
- Place the shaped dough into the hot oil and deep fry until golden brown.
- Let the fried cookies drain on paper towels and sprinkle with confectioners' sugar before serving.
