Ingredients
- 11 Ounces (oz) pie crust mix, packaged
- 2 Tablespoons (tbsp) cold water
- 2 Teaspoons (tsp) cold water
- 6 Ounces (oz) Canadian-style bacon, divided
- 1 Cup Cheddar cheese, shredded
- 4 Large eggs
- 0.25 Cup milk
- 0.25 Teaspoon (tsp) nutmeg, ground
- 0.25 Teaspoon (tsp) black pepper, ground
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
- In a large bowl, combine 1 1/3 cups pie crust mix with 2 tablespoons plus 2 teaspoons cold water until a pastry ball forms. Divide the pastry into 4 equal pieces.
- Roll each piece into a 6-inch circle on a floured surface. Drape each circle over inverted large muffin cups or 6-ounce custard cups, making pleats to fit snugly. Prick the surface with a fork and place on an ungreased cookie sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes until light brown. Cool for 5 minutes, then carefully remove tart shells from cups. Reduce oven temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Place 2 slices of Canadian bacon into the bottom of each tart shell. Sprinkle with Cheddar cheese, creating a small well in each. Break 1 egg into each well and add 1 tablespoon of milk. Sprinkle with nutmeg and pepper.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes until the eggs are soft-cooked.
