Ingredients

  • 1 Recipe pastry for a 9-inch single crust pie
  • 2 Cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 3 Large eggs
  • 0.125 Teaspoon (tsp) salt
  • 0.67 Cups brown sugar, packed
  • 1.5 Cups pecans, chopped
  • 12 Whole pecan halves

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. Melt 1 cup of chocolate chips over hot, not boiling, water. Once melted, remove from heat and let cool.
  3. In a small bowl, beat the eggs and salt with an electric mixer at high speed until very thick and lemon-colored, about 5 minutes.
  4. Gradually beat in the brown sugar and melted chocolate.
  5. Stir in the chopped pecans and the remaining 1 cup of chocolate chips.
  6. Pour the filling into the unbaked pie crust. Decorate the top with pecan halves.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the pie is set.
