  • 0.5 Cups pitted dates, chopped
  • 0.5 Cups pitted prunes, chopped
  • 0.5 Cups raisins, minced
  • 1 Cup water
  • 0.5 Cups margarine, melted
  • 2 Whole eggs, whisked
  • 1 Teaspoon (tsp) vanilla extract
  • 0.5 Cups walnuts, chopped
  • 1 Cup all-purpose flour, sifted
  • 1 Teaspoon (tsp) baking soda, sifted
  • 0.25 Teaspoon (tsp) salt, sifted

Steps

  1. Cut the dates and prunes into small pieces. In a saucepan, boil the dates, prunes, raisins, and water for 5 minutes. Add the melted margarine, mix well, and set aside to cool.
  2. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C).
  3. In a bowl, mix the whisked eggs, vanilla extract, and chopped walnuts. Add this mixture to the cooled fruit mixture.
  4. Sift the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt together, then add to the fruit mixture. For a spicier bar, you can add 0.5 tsp of cinnamon and 0.25 tsp of nutmeg to the flour.
  5. Spread the mixture evenly in a 7 x 11-inch baking pan.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until set.
