Ingredients
- 1 - 9 Inch unbaked pie crust
- 5 - Large Granny Smith apples, peeled
- 0.5 - Cups (cup) white sugar
- 2 - Tablespoons (tbsp) all-purpose flour
- 0.5 - Teaspoons (tsp) ground cinnamon
- 2 - Tablespoons (tbsp) lemon juice
- 0.5 - Cups (cup) white sugar, [for topping]
- 0.5 - Cups (cup) all-purpose flour, [for topping]
- 0.5 - Cups (cup) cold butter, divided
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Arrange the pie crust in the bottom of a 9-inch pie pan and place the sliced apples inside.
- In a bowl, mix 0.5 cups of sugar, 2 tablespoons of flour, and 0.5 teaspoons of cinnamon. Pour this mixture over the apples in the crust and sprinkle with lemon juice.
- For the crumble topping, combine 0.5 cups of sugar and 0.5 cups of flour in a bowl. Cut in the cold butter using two knives or a pastry blender until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle this crumble mixture evenly over the apples.
- Enclose the pie with two 15-inch pieces of parchment paper, folding the edges up three times. Place the pie on a baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour without opening the parchment. Remove from the oven, split the parchment open, and allow the pie to cool on a wire rack. Serve warm or at room temperature.
