- 1 - Cups white sugar, divided
- 4 - Tablespoons (tbsp) all-purpose flour

- 1.5 - Cups milk
- 0.75 - Teaspoons (tsp) vanilla extract
- 1 - Cups flaked coconut
- 0.5 - Cups heavy whipping cream
- 3 - Large egg whites
- 0.25 - Teaspoons (tsp) cream of tartar
- 1 - 9 Inch pie crust, baked
- 2 - Tablespoons (tbsp) flaked coconut
Steps
- Sprinkle the gelatin over cold water and set aside to soften.
- In a saucepan, combine 0.5 cups of sugar, flour, and salt. Gradually stir in milk. Cook over low heat, stirring until it boils. Boil for 1 minute, then remove from heat.
