Ingredients

  • 1 18.25 Ounces (oz) package chocolate cake mix, packaged
  • 1 Pound (lb) black shoestring licorice
  • 1 16 Ounces (oz) can white frosting
  • 48 Pieces candy corn
  • 48 Cinnamon red hot candies
  • 0.25 Cups orange decorator sugar

Steps

  1. Prepare the cupcakes according to the package directions. Allow them to cool completely.
  2. Cut the licorice into 3-inch sections.
  3. Working with one or two cupcakes at a time to prevent the frosting from setting, frost the cupcakes with the white frosting.
  4. Insert licorice pieces into the outer edges of the cupcakes to create spider legs, using 3 legs on each side.
  5. Place two pieces of candy corn on the front of each cupcake for fangs.
  6. Use two red hot candies as eyes.
  7. Sprinkle the cupcakes with orange decorator sugar.
  8. Repeat the decorating process with the remaining cupcakes.
