Ingredients

  • 1 Cup sesame seeds
  • 1.5 Cups packed brown sugar
  • 1 Cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.75 Cup butter, melted
  • 1 Large egg
  • 1 Teaspoon (tsp) vanilla extract
  • 0.25 Teaspoon (tsp) salt
  • 0.25 Teaspoon (tsp) baking powder

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Place sesame seeds on an ungreased baking sheet and toast in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes until light brown. Watch closely to prevent burning.
  3. In a large bowl, mix together brown sugar, flour, toasted sesame seeds, melted butter, egg, vanilla, salt, and baking powder until combined.
  4. Drop dough by 1/2 teaspoonfuls, 1 1/2 inches apart, onto a lightly greased baking sheet.
  5. Bake in batches in the preheated oven for 4 to 6 minutes, until light brown. Let cookies cool briefly before removing them from baking sheets to a wire rack to cool completely.
  6. Repeat Steps 4 and 5 to bake remaining batches.
