Ingredients
- 2.5 Cups (c) all-purpose flour
- 1 Teaspoon (tsp) baking soda
- 1 Teaspoon (tsp) salt
- 0.5 Teaspoon (tsp) baking powder
- 1 Cup (c) unsalted butter
- 0.75 Cup (c) white sugar
- 0.75 Cup (c) packed brown sugar
- 2 Large eggs
- 1 Teaspoon (tsp) vanilla extract
- 2.5 Cups (c) semisweet chocolate chips, divided
Steps
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, salt, and baking powder. Stir with a fork to mix the ingredients well.
- In another large bowl, combine the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar. Beat with an electric mixer until smooth and creamy. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, and beat until smooth and fluffy.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, 1 cup at a time, mixing with a spatula until well incorporated. Fold in 1.5 cups of chocolate chips until well combined.
- Drop spoonfuls of the cookie dough onto ungreased baking sheets.
- Pour the remaining 0.5 cup of chocolate chips into a bowl. Push about 3 to 4 chocolate chips onto each cookie, tip-side down, to create the spider bodies.
- Bake in the preheated oven until the edges are golden, about 10 to 15 minutes. Cool on the baking sheet for 1 minute before transferring to a wire rack.
- Melt the remaining 0.5 cup of chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 15-second intervals, stirring after each interval, for 1 to 3 minutes.
- Spoon the melted chocolate into a piping bag with a small tip and draw little legs on each side of the spider bodies to create spider legs.
Enjoy your spooky Halloween cookies!
