Ingredients

  • 2.5 Cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 Teaspoon (tsp) baking soda
  • 1 Teaspoon (tsp) salt
  • 0.5 Teaspoon (tsp) baking powder
  • 1 Cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 0.75 Cup white sugar
  • 0.75 Cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 Whole eggs
  • 1 Teaspoon (tsp) vanilla extract
  • 2.5 Cups semisweet chocolate chips, divided

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, salt, and baking powder. Stir with a fork to mix the ingredients well.
  3. In another large bowl, beat the unsalted butter, white sugar, and brown sugar with an electric mixer until smooth and creamy. Add the whole eggs and vanilla extract, beating until the mixture is smooth and fluffy.
  4. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, one cup at a time, mixing with a spatula until well incorporated. Fold in 1.5 cups of the semisweet chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of the cookie dough onto ungreased baking sheets. Press 3 to 4 chocolate chips onto each cookie, tip-side down, to form the spider bodies.
  6. Bake the cookies in the preheated oven until the edges are golden, about 10 to 15 minutes. Allow them to cool on the baking sheet for 1 minute before transferring to a wire rack.
  7. Melt the remaining 0.5 cup of chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 15-second intervals, stirring after each interval, until fully melted.
  8. Spoon the melted chocolate into a piping bag with a small tip and draw little legs on each side of the spider bodies to complete the spider look.

Enjoy your spooky Halloween cookies!
