Serving Size: 4

Cooking Time: 35 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 Tablespoons (tbsp) vegetable oil
  • 4 3/4-Inch thick pork chops
  • 16 Ounces (oz) sauerkraut
  • 1 Whole onion, sliced
  • 2 Tablespoons (tbsp) apple juice
  • 2 Whole garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 Teaspoon (tsp) caraway seeds
  • 1 Pinch salt, to taste
  • 1 Pinch pepper, to taste

Steps

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the pork chops and brown them on all sides. Once browned, remove them from the pan and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add the sauerkraut, sliced onion, apple juice, minced garlic, and caraway seeds. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Sauté the mixture for 3 to 4 minutes.
  3. Place the browned pork chops on top of the sauerkraut mixture. Cover the skillet, reduce the heat to low, and cook until the pork is no longer pink in the center, about 20 minutes. Ensure the internal temperature of the pork reaches at least 145 degrees F (63 degrees C) using an instant-read thermometer.
  4. Serve hot, ideally with a side of salad and bread for a complete meal. Enjoy your savory caraway pork chops with sautéed sauerkraut!
