Ingredients
- 2 Cups buttermilk
- 2 Tablespoons (tbsp) hot pepper sauce
- 1 Teaspoon (tsp) salt
- 1 Teaspoon (tsp) black pepper, ground
- 1 Teaspoon (tsp) onion powder
- 1 Teaspoon (tsp) garlic powder
- 20 Chicken wings, divided
- 3 Cups cornflakes cereal, crushed
- 0.5 Cup all-purpose flour
- 0.5 Cup cornmeal
- 1 Pinch salt, to taste
- 1 Pinch black pepper, ground
- 1 Cup honey
- 1 Tablespoon (tbsp) crushed red pepper flakes
Steps
- Whisk together buttermilk, hot pepper sauce, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon black pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder in a bowl. Pour the mixture into a resealable plastic bag, add chicken wings, coat well, and marinate in the refrigerator for 12 to 24 hours.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Coat two baking sheets with cooking spray.
- In a bowl, combine crushed cornflakes, flour, and cornmeal. Season with a pinch of salt and black pepper. Remove chicken wings from the marinade, shake off excess, and discard the remaining marinade.
- Press wings into the cornflake mixture to coat thoroughly. Place them onto the prepared baking sheets and coat the tops with cooking spray.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 40 minutes, until the chicken is no longer pink and the meat easily pulls from the bone.
- While the wings are baking, combine honey and pepper flakes in a small saucepan over medium heat until the honey thins. Keep warm until the wings are ready.
- Once baked, place wings in a large mixing bowl and drizzle with the honey sauce. Toss until evenly coated. Enjoy your Spicy Honey Crunch Chicken Wings!
