  • 2 14.5 Ounces (oz) cans chicken broth
  • 2 14 Ounces (oz) cans Great Northern beans
  • 3 Cups (cup) water
  • 1 14 Ounces (oz) can spinach, drained
  • 1 8 Ounces (oz) can tomato sauce
  • 8 Slices bacon, crumbled
  • 1 Tablespoon (tbsp) garlic, minced
  • 1 Tablespoon (tbsp) parsley, dried
  • 1.5 Teaspoons (tsp) salt
  • 1 Teaspoon (tsp) garlic powder
  • 0.5 Teaspoon (tsp) black pepper, ground
  • 0.5 Teaspoon (tsp) basil, dried
  • 0.5 Pounds (lb) seashell pasta
  • 0.5 Cups (cup) Romano cheese, grated

Steps

  1. In a large stockpot, combine the diced tomatoes, chicken broth, Great Northern beans, water, drained spinach, tomato sauce, crumbled bacon, minced garlic, dried parsley, salt, garlic powder, ground black pepper, and dried basil.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, cover the pot, reduce the heat to low, and let it simmer for 40 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  3. After 40 minutes, add the seashell pasta to the pot. Cook the soup uncovered for an additional 10 minutes, or until the pasta is tender yet firm to the bite.
