Ingredients

  • 1 Large head cabbage
  • 1 Pound (lb) lean ground beef
  • 1 Whole egg, whisked
  • 1 Medium onion, minced
  • 0.75 Cups cooked white rice
  • 1 Pinch salt, to taste
  • 1 Pinch pepper, to taste
  • 10.75 Ounces (oz) can condensed tomato soup
  • 5.375 Ounces (oz) water

Steps

  1. Place the cabbage head in the freezer and freeze overnight. Remove from the freezer, thaw, and peel away the leaves.
  2. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  3. In a bowl, combine the ground beef, whisked egg, minced onion, cooked rice, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  4. Take a small handful of the beef mixture and form it into a small roll or ball. Place it in the center of a cabbage leaf. Fold the sides of the leaf over and roll the ball up into the leaf. Place seam side down in a baking dish. Repeat until all the filling is used.
  5. Mix the condensed tomato soup with 5.375 ounces (half a can) of water and pour over the stuffed cabbage rolls.
  6. Bake uncovered at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 1 hour, basting often with the sauce.
