Ingredients

  • 2 Pounds (lb) ground beef, ground
  • 2 Whole onions, minced
  • 4 Cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 14.5 Ounces (oz) cans stewed tomatoes
  • 1 15 Ounces (oz) can tomato sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons (tbsp) chili powder
  • 2 Teaspoons (tsp) salt
  • 2 Teaspoons (tsp) dried oregano
  • 1 15 Ounces (oz) can kidney beans, with liquid

Steps

  1. In a large stockpot over medium heat, combine the ground beef, minced onions, and minced garlic. Cook and stir until the beef is browned and crumbly, about 10 minutes. Drain and discard any excess grease.
  2. Stir in the stewed tomatoes, tomato sauce, chili powder, salt, and dried oregano into the beef mixture. Break up the tomatoes while stirring and bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce the heat to a simmer, cover, and cook, stirring occasionally, for 1 hour.
  3. Stir in the kidney beans with their liquid. Simmer uncovered, stirring occasionally, for an additional 20 minutes.
  4. Serve hot, and enjoy your savory spiced beef chili!
