Ingredients

  • 1 Pound mushrooms, sliced
  • 6 Tablespoons butter
  • 1 Cup onion, minced
  • 1 Cup celery, sliced
  • 1 Teaspoon poultry seasoning
  • 1 Teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 Teaspoon black pepper, ground
  • 12 Cups bread crumbs, dried
  • 1.5 Cups chicken broth, hot
  • 2 Whole eggs, whisked
  • 2 Cups apple, peeled and diced
  • 0.25 Cup parsley, minced

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) and butter a 9x13 inch casserole dish.
  2. Rinse, pat dry, and quarter the mushrooms. In a large skillet, heat the butter and add the mushrooms, onion, and celery. Sauté for 5 minutes, then remove from heat. Stir in the poultry seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the bread crumbs with the hot chicken broth and whisked eggs. Add the mushroom mixture, diced apples, and minced parsley. Mix well to combine all ingredients.
  4. Transfer the mixture into the prepared casserole dish. Cover and bake in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes.
  5. Remove the cover and bake for an additional 15 minutes to brown the top.
