  • 1.5 Pounds (lb) boneless pork, sliced
  • 1 Tablespoon (tbsp) bacon drippings
  • 1 Tablespoon (tbsp) vegetable oil
  • 1 Tablespoon (tbsp) all-purpose flour
  • 0.25 Cups onion, minced
  • 1 4 Ounces (oz) can tomato sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons (tbsp) chili powder
  • 1 Teaspoon (tsp) cumin
  • 0.5 Teaspoon (tsp) garlic powder
  • 1 Pinch salt, to taste
  • 1 Pinch black pepper, to taste
  • 3 Cups water

Steps

  1. Place 3 tablespoons of flour in a plastic bag. Add the pork cubes and shake to lightly coat them with flour; set aside.
  2. Heat the bacon drippings and vegetable oil in a Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add the pork and cook until the meat is evenly browned, about 5 to 8 minutes.
  3. Stir in 1 tablespoon of flour and cook, stirring, for 3 minutes.
  4. Add the minced onion, tomato sauce, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and water. Stir well to combine.
