Ingredients

  • 1 Cup cold water
  • 0.5 Cup uncooked long grain white rice
  • 1 Tablespoon (tbsp) vegetable oil
  • 1 Pound (lb) ground beef
  • 6 Medium green bell peppers, divided
  • 16 Ounces (oz) tomato sauce, divided
  • 1 Tablespoon (tbsp) Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.25 Teaspoon (tsp) garlic powder
  • 0.25 Teaspoon (tsp) onion powder
  • 1 Pinch salt, to taste
  • 1 Pinch ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 Teaspoon (tsp) Italian seasoning

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. In a medium saucepan, bring 1 cup of cold water to a boil. Stir in the rice, reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes.
  3. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until evenly browned. Drain excess fat.
  4. Cut the tops off the bell peppers and remove the seeds and membranes. Arrange the peppers in a baking dish with the hollowed sides facing upward.
  5. In a bowl, mix the cooked rice, browned beef, 1 cup of tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  6. Spoon an equal amount of the mixture into each hollowed pepper. Pour the remaining tomato sauce over the stuffed peppers.
  7. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 15 minutes.
